How to use this collection

A protocol label does not remove the need to understand development, communication, culture, disability, current threat, caregiving systems or the setting in which trauma occurred. These guides organize evidence around the population and context rather than treating adaptation as a generic checklist.

Use the collection to identify assessment questions, consent needs, pacing considerations and situations that require consultation or coordinated care. The pages do not turn population membership into a diagnosis and do not assume that every person within a group needs the same adaptation.

Questions to carry into practice

01

Identify contextual risks and strengths before deciding what adaptation is actually needed.

02

Preserve client agency, accessible communication and culturally responsive formulation.

03

Separate evidence for PTSD treatment from claims about every difficulty within a population.
